I liked the piece in The Sun (“Computing the Cost”). I’m a web designer and spend hours in front of the screen every day. Digital information delivery has absolutely had an effect on my brain.
I live in San Diego, very close to the beach. One afternoon, I was going to take a break from work and get a quick surf. I was looking for my wax, to put on my board before I walked down to the beach. As I stood in the middle of my garage, looking around me, the instinctive thought in my head was COMMAND-F . . . WAX, as if it would then be highlighted on my shelf, making it easier to spot.
Very strange feeling. I’m thankful for wax and sand and water and things that can’t be copy-pasted or bookmarked or skimmed.
